Welcome to the Web

"The networks connected to the Internet have all agreed on certain communication protocols regarding how packets are sent and received, e-mail addressing, and so on."

Marketing on the Internet: The Big Picture

"Marketing on the Internet is a "pull" activity. You must bring the audience to the site and entice them to stay."

The Technical Foundations of the Web

"The Web is nonlinear by nature and by design?you can jump from topic to topic, document to document, and site to site all over the Web. "

Using the Web for Business

"Information is the forte of the Internet, and the Web browsers make hunting down information much easier."

Basic Marketing Strategies on the Web

"You can use your Web site to carry out some marketing research functions such as customer surveys, product interest and reaction surveys."

Attracting Visitors to Your Web Site

"The Web is not generally considered a mass market (in spite of its numbers); rather it involves one-on-one promotion."

An Integrated Approach to Web Marketing

"Joining appropriate discussion groups is one good way to gain visibility for you and your Web site."

Promoting and Measuring Success on the Internet

"While return on investment is very important in evaluating marketing, there are some other useful Net-centric measures available to the Web marketer."

Netiquette for Web Marketers

"When selecting an Internet access provider or network, ask about the provider's acceptable use policies?make sure they support the kind of business activities you would like to pursue. "

Web Security

"Secure transactions?through credit cards, the purchase of virtual money tokens, the establishment of accounts, and more?is a growth area for business on the Web. "

Legal Protections and Privacy on the Web

"Marking your material with the copyright notice is not required, nor is registering it with the Library of Congress, but doing so entitles you to additional legal protections."

Basic HTML Documents

"HTML files are also ASCII files, but with commands embedded in the text which direct any browser that displays it, how to display it, and how to use information about embedded links to other documents."

Adding Graphics, Sound, and Action to a Web Site

"Original graphics and picture files can be made using computer screen captures, scanned hardcopy images, video frame grabbers, digital cameras, and computer-generated graphics."

Offering Databases and Collecting Information

"A well done, up-to-date, useful database will also encourage others throughout the Web to add links to your database."

Homepages That Work: Best Practices for Marketing

"The nonlinear style is excellent for marketing?many points can be made quickly, and the anchors with links to other documents can then be used to more fully explain things. "

Issues in Web Site Design and Management

"Readers may jump in from anywhere to anywhere, so navigation links are critical."

Power-Searching the Web

"The different groups offering search engines on the Web vary in the software and techniques they use (and in the resultant search quality, too)."

Expanding Your Internet Tool Kit

"These tools can assist you in providing information, gathering information, bringing traffic to the site, getting users involved, getting them to act and interact, and building customer loyalty through community."

The Future on the Web: Think Months, Not Years

"Each new development and improvement on the Internet should lead each business to a re-evaluation of the potential for online marketing."
